Since returning to some normality, it has been busy on Thursday and Fridays in 5H!!

Speaking Presentations - Speaking and Listening Challenge Term 2 - “If I could live in another part of the world it would be….”



Its been wonderful to hear such well-structured and prepared presentations this term.
With our topic, we traveled across many continents. From New Zealand, Hawaii, Spain, France, Italy, Chile and Thailand. We all learnt a great deal and it was impressive listening and watching presentations online, delivered from home. All results were sent home, please see me (or your child's laptop bag) if you did not see their results. 

STEM Project - Solids, Liquids and Gases




After all our science learning this term on matter (solids, liquids and gases), I've given the class the challenge of creating an educational video, suitable for a Year 3 student, that teaches in effective way, all about matter.

Below I've attached the outline and steps to the project. So there may be some up and coming little Steven Speilberg's in your home over the next couple of weeks. 

We started our project by researching how kids learn best. Some really interesting results and discussion.

Appreciation Journal

Building on the ideas of the "Resilience Project" (a great book if you have not read it ), and linking with our school value of Appreciation, we are embarking on an Appreciation journal for the remainder of the week.

This is to be completed each night (Monday to Thursday) and the idea is to build resilience, awareness and appreciation for what and who we have in our lives. 

Hopefully you can find a moment to view what your child is writing in their journal each week.

Week 9, Term 4

 Week 9, Term 4!  Great job on making it to week nine guys. Only a few more days to go and the kids will be soaking up that Summer Sun.  What a great term we have had. I honestly feel so blessed to have worked with your children this term. They are a brilliant bunch of souls who are going to soar in Grade Six.  Just a couple of reminders for this week.  Christmas Concert : As mentioned previously, the Christmas Concert is taking place this Tuesday 7th December. It commences at 6pm, so please  ensure that your child comes to class by 5.40pm.  As a class we will walk down together and into our places, while you can find a nice spot on the hill to settle back and enjoy the show. St Vinnie's Donations: A reminder that we are collecting Christmas food and decorative items...if you can please have them in  by Wednesday , we would be very appreciative! Term 4 Week 7

  The following recount was written collaboratively by Paige, Georgia, Flynn,  Tieg, Justin, Jasper, Jeremy, Joe, Mahley and Noah. It is Part One of our Cape Naturaliste Experience!!   On Monday the 16 th of November we went to the historical Cape Naturalise National Park.  We travelled by bus and it took 11 minutes to get to this magnificent location!       First of all, we met Josh Whiteland, who is a Wardandi Custodian of the local region.  Wardandi means “forest people by the sea.” He calls the land "country".  Aboriginal people see “country” as being like a mother.  It gives to them what they need and protects them.  Respect of country is the backbone of Noongar people.
