Term 2 Week 7

S o r r y D a y We had a great week last week learning and discussing National Sorry Day. It was fabulous to see the respect and curiosity that the students demonstrated...it was topped off with an amazing experience, where the whole school came together to spell out the word sorry on our school oval.   I bet if you ask them they will be able to point out where they are in the photo!   Hopefully your child's Sorry Day “Chatterbox” made it home safely and your child was able to teach you some of what they learnt in class.      HOMEWORK WEEK 7 and 8 For the next fortnight, the children do not have Homework Grids to complete, as we have two short weeks (this week Thursday is the Winter Carnival and Friday is a Pupil Free Day and next week Monday is a public holiday and Tuesday is a Pupil Free Day!).     The only homework to complete during these two weeks is a choice of activity each night from the new Spelling Choice Grid in their homework book.   This week they must complet

Term 2 Week 6

Hi 5H families, We survived NAPLAN and are back into our regular timetable of learning.   OUR LEARNING Last Monday the children in 5H passed over their golden tickets to receive their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Book Bag!   It is full of all of the activities we will be completing as we read this fantastic Roald Dahl book as our class novel.   We will be working in our reading groups on many different Reading Comprehension Strategies, to make meaning from the text, and enjoy it to its fullest!  We began our reading group sessions today! Thank you to Jacob, Flynn, Esmerelda and Alexandra for being our class photographers. We have also concluded our Visual Art Programme focusing on "The Eye' and the Art Elements of Line, Space and Colour.  Our final activity was to weave God's Eyes... a great activity for mindfulness during our fortnight of NAPLAN testing.  The class have produced some amazing artwork and you are most welcome to pop in before or after school this wee

  Term 2 Week 5 REMINDERS NAPLAN   The class were incredible during our first week of NAPLAN testing.  Growth Mindset Gurus! This week we conclude the tests with: Monday 17 th of May – Conventions of Language Tuesday 18 th of May – Numeracy HOME LEARNING GRID Being our second week of NAPLAN, this week’s home learning grid has many opportunities for wellbeing: Your child is invited to complete their APPRECIATION JOURNAL each day. Your child is invited to do a random act of kindness. Your child is invited to listen to calm music. Your child is invited to try a meditation app (eg: CALM) Your child is invited to take a daily walk. Your child is invited to play a game with their family. Your child is invited to complete physical activity via their Champion Life Login. Your child is invited to have a technology free night   They are also invited to share with you the daily timetable they made in class last week to help them become more independent with their organ

  We hope that all of you amazing 5H mums were spoiled with gratitude yesterday and that you loved your gifts, especially the thoughtful words written by your child on the gift tags…. I had a few tears spring to my eyes proofing them!   REMINDERS - WEEK 4   NAPLAN  - This begins tomorrow and the schedule is to run as per the email previously sent by Adrian:   Tuesday 11 th of May – Writing Wednesday 12 th of May – Reading Monday 17 th of May – Conventions of Language Tuesday 18 th of May – Numeracy   All test sessions will begin at approximately 9:00a.m.   Our 5H focus is on keeping the whole fortnight low key and stress free! We have been reminding the students that this test only tells the assessors a little about their learning...it doesn't tell them about their other talents and strengths.
