Week 9 Important Reminders

Welcome to Week 9! We are almost at the end of a very interesting semester of learning and as Mr Lee pointed out to the class last week, they are nearly in Year 5 and a Half!  Lots of learning and improvements have been made in the first half of the year and we are very proud of the efforts that are being put in by the students to make that happen!

In this week’s blog we thought we would remind you of a few important dates for your diary:

Year 5 and 6 Camp to Forest Edge - Waroona
We have been given the green light that our senior classes are able to attend camp for the first three days of term three, July 20 - 22.   If you have not yet returned your permission slip and medical form, please do so by the end of this week so we are able to finalise numbers and begin to plan dorms/activity groups etc…  The camp will be a wonderful opportunity to practice our Growth Mindsets!

Pyjama day
Last Friday afternoon, the class were told by the Year 6s that there is to be a Pyjama Day for the whole school this coming Friday! We think the Year 6s have been reading some of our persuasive writing as 5H were trying to persuade me to have a pyjama day to celebrate our incredible reading of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and activities completed this term. Our persuasive writing was obviously so successful that the whole school is now invited to wear pyjamas this Friday for a gold coin donation for Project Compassion! Please note that your child will need to wear sneakers though, not slippers or ugg boots.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Celebration Day
Because the children will already by wearing pyjamas this Friday, we will have a “Trackie Day” instead next Tuesday the 30th of June! On this day we plan to see who will be the lucky “Hot Chocolatte” Golden Ticket Winners and watch the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movies to compare and contrast them with the book.  We will also be making hot chocolates with marshmallows and having an afternoon “read in” of Roald Dahl’s other novels! A permission slip for your child to watch the 2005 version of the movie (as this is rated PG) and to join in with the hot chocolate making will be coming home this week.  They will need to B.Y.O. a mug, cushion and any Roald Dahl books from their shelves on this day!

Cross Country

Next Wednesday 1st July, the Cross Country Carnival will be taking place from approximately 9.15-11am. Presentations will be held next term when we are eventually able to hold assemblies again. Students are to wear their sports uniform with their faction polos. They will require a spare change of clothes (including shoes and socks) in case the weather is inclement. Children may bring along coloured decorations and wear coloured zinc.

Parents are welcome to attend and watch. It is asked that you park in the top Naturaliste Road Car Park or the Sloan Drive Carpark, as the gravel carpark will be closed.

Absences
We appreciate you continuing to keep your child at home if they are feeling unwell to help stop the spread of germs and colds.  I am always concerned about the Maths that children miss on extended absence and will send home missed activities for them to complete at home.  If you are planning on escaping early to some nice warm weather at the end of this term or next term, please visit the lovely Fran in the office to fill out an extended leave form.

Buddy Time

We finally found a moment last week to spend some time with our Pre Primary buddies.  I always love seeing the Year 5s shine our School Values during this time as they become role models to our little ones!

Congratulation to Holly for earning our Class Award last week!  Keep up the super efforts!

We hope you have a wonderful week and please keep supporting your child to hand in their completed Homework and signed Home Learning Grids each Friday!
Kathy and Adrian
