Week 3 Term 4
EXCURSION
On Monday the
16th of November, we will be heading out of the classroom for a big
day of learning about our wonderful Cape.
Our excursion
will be lead by local custodian of the land, Josh Whiteland. He will lead us on the “Cape Cultural
Experience.”
We will
experience a “Welcome to Country” then an easy guided walk (~2.5km) around the
tip of the cape, learning about local flora and fauna along the way. On arrival
at the “Meeting Place”, we will enjoy local Dreaming stories, view an artefacts
& tool display, followed by an interactive didgeridoo music session.
We will also
take part in the “Shipwrecks
and Settlers” guided tour where we will learn about the importance
of our area for early settlers. We will
step back in time on a guided tour of the lighthouse and precinct, learning
about the first inhabitants, colonial settlement and the lives of the
lighthouse keepers and families in this once isolated outpost.
Thanks to Mr
Torrese for organising this incredible learning experience!
PAT Testing
These will continue this week as part of our annual
Assessment Schedule. Please support your
child to make sure that they are bringing their fully charged laptop
to school, earphones and a full water bottle to help hydrate their brains for
lots of thinking!
BOOK WEEK
This Friday the school is celebrating a very low key Book Week – NO DRESS UPS this year. Instead we will be meeting with our buddy class to share our favourite picture book. Can you please help your child to select a favourite picture book from their bookshelves to share with their PPB buddy. If they don’t have a copy of their favourite book then please ask them to organise with me to head to the library to locate it.
We had a lovely session of practicing our leadership qualities with our buddies last week as we led them on a bushwalk. It was so lovely seeing 5H displaying care and kindness towards our younger students. I challenged them to look at the world through the eyes of a five year old! So much joy was had!
Our Wheelie, Walkie, Waste -Free Wednesdays will
continue each Wednesday throughout term 4! Points will be allocated to each child’s
faction who wheels or walks to school and whose lunch box is plastic free. The faction with the most points in Week 5
and Week 9 will win free dress!
Congratulations
to Flynn who was our Week 2 award winner!
