Week 4 Term 4

What an incredible term of learning we are having!

The class are busy learning about fractions, researching and writing an information report about their chosen illness, delving deeply into the characters of our class novel, Wonder, revising our Friendology skills, learning about the leaders of the Church in Religion and creating their own screen saver in Visual Arts.

It was a fantastic reward for them to share their favourite picture books with Pre Primary on Friday… What a fabulous way to practice their fluency and expression!!

HOME LEARNING

Thank you to those of you who are signing our Home Learning Grids and ensuring your child is completing their set homework.

Spelling focus: the phone “ow”  as in flower, cloud, plough, coward and doubt

Wonder Reading: please ensure your child has read up to page 145 by the end of this week.  Remember you can read some of the novel out loud to them to help them catch up if they are behind.

We continue our times table learning this week with the 9x table.  There are lots of tricks for the 9s available on you tube (search 9 times table tricks!) The class are loving earning their mini certificates for mastering their weekly facts!  So far, we have had 100% success rate with everyone earning their certificates for the 4x and 3x tables.  Great job everyone!

Our act of kindness deeds this week are focused on “growth”

·      Learn to say ‘How are you?’ in another language

·      Write a list of 3 things you are proud of

·      Think about a time when you learnt from one of your mistakes

2021 Leadership Speeches

This year we will be asking anyone who is interested in nominating themselves to be the 2021 Head Girl or Head Boy, to prepare
(in their own time) a speech that they will present to an audience of Year 4-6 students and teachers.
We are encouraging students who would like to put themselves forward for this opportunity to utilise the following resources and questions below.

The presentations will take place on Tuesday Week 8.
Once again, this will only be for students who are passionate about being a school leader next year (Head/Deputy Girl or Boy) and those not interested in these roles will not be asked to present a speech.

Please be aware that while student and staff voting will take place and the results will be strongly considered, the ultimate decision will be made by Mr Lee and the School Leadership Team.

Good luck to all those students nominating themselves for a significant student leadership role in 2021!
