Term 1 Week 8

 To our 5H parents,

Please find our upcoming events below

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent teacher interviews commence this week. We are very excited to properly meet many of you! Thank you to those of you that have already made a booking. If you have not been able to access the form on your phone (a computer is a better way to open the form), then feel free to email and we can call you with the remaining availability.  If you need to swap times, the form link we sent remains an interactive booking sheet so feel free to change as needed.

Our meetings are designed to give you a brief overview of how your child is progressing with a focus on literacy and numeracy. We will also discuss your child's work habits and you will have time at the end of the session to raise any questions or concerns that you have.

We would appreciate it if you can please make a note of your time and ensure that you are on time. As we are on time constraints, each meeting will run for 10 -15 minutes. We will be keeping a timer handy to ensure the time of each meeting is fair and equitable with each parent. If it seems that we have more to discuss, we can make another time to finish the conversation.

Swimming Lessons

We finished our swimming lessons on Friday and the Year 5 students are to be congratulated for working very hard over the last two weeks. Thankfully, we finished the two weeks off with three sunny days of crystal calm clear water. The students were commended by their swim instructors for their resilience on the rougher days and their respect throughout the two weeks. Well done to those students who have passed and to those who didn’t, Take the time to relook at your certificates at the areas you need more practise in… a great opportunity to utilise our growth mindset!

First Aid Course

The wonderful Mrs Ricciardone has organised for the students of Year 5 and 6 to complete a First Aid Response course by St John of God. This is a free incursion and each session will run for 45 minutes. Our class will have their training on this upcoming Thursday 25th March from 11.15 - 12pm.

Bears to Show We Care

On Friday the 26th March the students are asked to bring in a teddy or other favourite fluffy toy (size to fit inside school bag) for our Term 1 mission fundraiser. The students will need to bring in a gold coin donation for the privilege of having their furry friend help them in class for the day and picnic with them at lunch at recess! Your support is greatly appreciated.

The Easter Story

Due to our assembly being cancelled earlier in the term, 5H have been asked, instead, to present the Easter Story to the rest of the school.  Our liturgy will take place in the hall on Wednesday the 31st of March @ 10a.m.  Parents are invited to attend.  Your child may bring home a part to practise on Monday afternoon.

OLC Swimming Carnival

As mentioned previously, our Year 4,5 and 6 swimming carnival has been rescheduled to Thursday 1st April in Margaret River.

If you know that your child is not going to be there, can you please send Mrs Sinclair (Mandy.sinclair@cewa.edu.au) an email, to notify her know as soon as possible, so that replacements can be edited into events.

See you all over the next couple of weeks!
