Term 2 Week 8

Welcome to our short Week 8.  Hopefully, you enjoyed a relaxing and fun filled long, long weekend with your families.

INTRODUCTORY PROGRAMME ON GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

On Friday, the Archdiocesan agency Centre for Life, Marriage and Family Life Education team will be presenting an introductory programme on growth and development for our year 5 students via Zoom. The boys and girls will be involved in separate presentations (75 minutes long) so that they will engage in a programme specific to their needs in a safe and comfortable environment.

The ‘I Am Nature’s Greatest Miracle’ Session will provide your child with a gentle introduction to growth and development at puberty.  Another session will take place in Year 6.

Year 5 Session Aims:

·       Explore concepts of physical, emotional, intellectual and social change at puberty.

·       Choose to develop a growth mindset to embrace change and achieve full potential. Build confidence to manage the changes ahead.

·       Encourage connection of mind and body. Understand the physical and emotional effects of hormonal change.

·       Develop an appreciation for the body and care for the health of the body through puberty to adulthood with respect for self and others.

·       Techniques to manage emotional change. Changes in our feelings and friendships

Permission is required for your child to attend the session.  A letter was sent home today with more details.  Please complete the slip at the bottom and return tomorrow.

Focus Character Strength

This week the character strength we are focusing on modelling and observing is Curiosity.  Discuss with your child if they/you feel this is one of their strengths and where they might see this strength in action in other people.

STATIONERY CHECK IN

Please check with your child if they need any stationery "top ups"  Many are without red or blue pens, pencils, glue sticks and rulers and it interrupts their own and others learning when they need to search and borrow.  Also, please send in a spare carry bag by next Monday for your child to bring home the artwork they have completed in our "Eye Programme".

HOMEWORK

Due to another short week, the children do not have a Homework Grid to complete.  The only homework to complete is a choice of activity each night from the new Spelling Choice Grid in their homework book.  That is, choose an activity on the Wednesday and Thursday night to hand in on the Friday morning.  Therefore, they only need to complete 2 spelling activities.

 AWARD WINNER

Congratulations to Michael for being our Week 7 Super Star Award Winner!

Thanks for your continued support,
