Term 3 Week 3

 CULTURE, NATURE AND CHALLENGE DAYS

You have previously been emailed with information about our exciting Culture, Nature and Challenge Days.  We are super excited for the children to take part in the activities.

REMINDERS

The two days are fully catered!

Year 5 students need to be at school by 8:15am (at the latest) on both days.

The day that your child is on the Prevelly Challenge Loop and Margaret River Independent school guided walk, the group will be returning to school at approximately 3:30pm.

The day that your child is on the Calgardup Cave Adventure and the Contos to Redgate Walk, they will return to school at approximately 4:30p.m.

Students are welcome to wear free dress as long as they dress appropriately according to the list on the blog in week 1.

As outlined in last week’s email, please be aware that on the day your child attends the Margaret River Independent School for the cultural tour, they will need gum boots (or wet weather boots) as the track is quite muddy in parts. Please bring boots along separately in a bag labelled with their name, as the other part of their day is the Prevelly Loop Challenge which does involve lots of walking and they will need suitable footwear for this.

SEE SAW

OLC Admin sent out an email last week sharing important information about an addition to our reporting system for this semester, See Saw. Seesaw is a platform that allows you to see some of the great work that your child is doing in the classroom.

Following this, your child should have brought home on Thursday a piece of paper with a QR Code and account details for your family to set up your account. Please note, multiple people can use the same code and it will access only your child.

Adrian and I spent time last week setting the 5H students up with their See Saw accounts and you should have been able to view their first uploaded activity on Friday, showcasing your child’s Mathematics achievement.

Please note that See Saw will be used purely as a means for you to keep up to date with your child's learning. Any communication with us remains via our emails:

PENPALS

In the last week of Term 2, we wrote a class letter to our new elderly pen pals from a local retirement village in Dunsborough. Each class at OLC has been assigned 4 beautiful ladies to start corresponding with. 5H will be writing to, Grace, Shirley, Maureen and Lillian. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be making some God’s eyes (our weaving project from last term) to send them.

 FOCUS CHARACTER STRENGTH

Currently at OLC we are focusing on modelling and observing different character strengths.    This week we are looking for people who show HONESTY. Can you encourage your child to demonstrate this trait?

 ADORATION

On Friday, we will be walking to Our Lady of the Southern Cross Church to attend the Adoration that Fr Francis organises for the parish each month. This will be a beautiful opportunity for the 5H students to take some time out of their week to express their gratitude and respect for the blessings in their lives.
